Default Things you learn from tv instead of swl about Katrina

Things I have learned from watching the news about Hurricane Katrina on TV
when I could have been swl.

01. The hurricane only hit black family properties.

02. New Orleans was devastated and no other city was affected by the
hurricane.

03. Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.

04. New Orleans has no white people.

05. The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama
resident.

06. When you are hungry after a hurricane steal big screen TV and Nike
footwear.

07. The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans,
and now the city has no welfare recipients, looters, or gangs; they have
moved
to your city.

08. White folks don't make good news stories.

09. Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you,
instead bitch because the government hasn't given you a debit card yet.

10. Only black family members got separated in the hurricane rescue
efforts.

11. Ignore warnings to evacuate and the white folks will come get you and
give you money for being stupid.

12. Damn, I feel so sorry for all those black folks.

13. Oh, and it is all George Bush's fault.

Texas Starr, she sent me an email about Heineken's new beer promotion. It
shows a picture of a looter wading through the flood waters of New
Orleans and he is carrying a case of Heineken beer in the glass
bottles.Looters prefer Heineken Beer,it says.

Well, there is a tendancy for TV to cover the best and most easily
available pictures (if it bleeds it leads) and for those with power
and money to be able to better avoid some bad things. (if you don't
have a car, you were much less likely to have evacuated well before
the storm)

I believe in 1927, when there was a big flood on the Missippi, New
Orleans, then having all the area power and wealth, opened some levees
thus flooding rural areas with less power and wealth. It promised to
compensate the rural areas but never did. There are also numerous
stories from 1927, from various areas, of the poor, especially blacks,
being treated much worse than the whites.

There's an article in Saturday's NY Times about small towns
complaining that they're not getting coverage of damage.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/01/na...l/01flood.html

That was the end of his shrimping business, and his town too. "All
everyone out there is worried about is Houston and New Orleans," he
said, pulling on a cigarette. "We're sick of it. This storm hit
Cameron Parish 10 times what it hit New Orleans, and nobody even knows
it."

That Mississippi River Flood flooded much more than some areas in
Louisiana,it flooded a lot of areas in some other states too, including
here in Mississippi. www.devilfinder.com The Mississippi River
Flood of 1927.

I do not believe anybody in Louisiana or anywhere else during that flood
of 1927 opened some Levves to flood other areas on purpose, that is
rediulous to believe that. You should stop reading the NY Slimes, that rag
is one of the lieiest Commie rags in the World.

After she combed her hair (it isn't my fault there aren't any curtains
on her kitchen window and I could see her from the top down about six
inches down past the top of her shoulders) I saw what looked like to me
a yellow plastic mop handle waving around, then I saw her going through
the motions as if she was mopping her kitchen floor.Oh well, that's the
way the mop flops,I reckon. This morning she said she has two dogs and
she is going to build a dog pen (that means I will be doing most of the
work) in her yard for her dogs.
