I'm getting a great signal on 6020, with music, weather, updates on
the storm
and an ID saying "ABC Local Radio Queensland".
Is this a relay via Radio Australia?
They still have Radio Australia on their other frequencies, 9590 and
9590, 7240, etc. So they're using one of their transmitters (or one
of the contracted ones at Darwin), but they didn't preempt all of
Radio Aus. for this.

Transmitters for 11650 and 6020 KHz were at RA Shepparton. Service was
withdrawn at 2000 Hrs UTC today.

DirecTV Satellite dish on my roof pointing at a bird way up there in the
Southwestern Sky (or near Earth orbit,whatever it's called) and heavy
thunderstorms obstructing my signal.It doesn't happen often though.

I have other tv sets too that I can use to pick up the local tv
channels.Small tv sets and larger tv sets.I own about eight tv sets of
different sizes,some of them can run on batteries (and car batteries)
too.

Mobile network coverage during storms?
 

As a side note, how do TV stations manage to get mobile phone calls/signals
to people in the storm when it is obvious that the system would be down?

Are they using satellite phones or something???

I think it was Springfield,Illinois a few days ago when a storm knocked
out all of the electric power in that City.Radio was still working
though.

What makes you think the system would be down?

Telstra have underground cable to the towers. The other tend to use
microwave.
