Detail/Terms:
I am looking for a Radio, such as the RCI - 2970 DX (ALL MODE (AM,
FM, USB, LSB, CW - HF) - (10, 11, 12 meter radio a plus! - The one
that will do the C.B. also), But will take the 12M - 10M RCI - 2970
DX, with antenna (will take a mobile - and/or base antenna, do not
need coax - have plenty of coax.). This radio goes new for $399.95,
The radio I am asking to trade is new and goes for almost $500 +.
I will take a simple, tunable base antenna such as one of the
Solarcon models like the Antron A-99, I-MAX-99, IMAX -2000 or similar
antenna, or a mobile antenna of the same specifications (must be
tunable from 12 - 10 meters.
And with the trade, I will match the deal with the same, a mobile
antenna for a mobile antenna, or a tunable base antenna for a tunable
12 to 10 meter antenna, (The FT-8800R + Dual-Band base antenna was
over $670+ just 2 months ago, and the radio has never been outside the
house, and the mic has never "seen" cigarette smoke!
I am ready to practice the HF bands as there are now HF privileges
available to us Technicians, and plan to use the radio to work CW to
prepare for my upgrade to General Class, then eventually to Extra
Class, and want something simple to start off with until I get
proficient with CW AND SSB phone before I later go to a "high-end" HF
rig. I also like the specs of the RCI-2970 DX since it will also do 10
M FM phone for repeater work, (I actually got to watch a friend make
contacts off of the St. Thomas, Virgin Islands 29.660 repeater in the
early 1990's and that just blew me away, listening to people from the
Alps in Europe getting into the 29.660 "Doorbell" machine in St.
Thomas on an RCI-2950 (stock!), with about 10 - 12 watts FM, I was
turned on the hobby right then and there, and have always dreamed of
doing such one day, and now since Techs can operate these repeaters
now, I am ready to get into it.

So ANYONE wishing to make a great deal, I will take an older, but
good working condition RCI-2970 DX or similar rig like the RCI-2950 DX
kit (2970 DX preferred as it is still cheaper that the FT-880R EXPORT
model, and it has 12 to 10 meters and just the right amount of RF
out) .
I would really rather trade, as I do not need money, I just want so
bad to get on the 12 to 10 M bands, and especially work the 10 M FM
repeaters, and from where I am in FL, I have seen the band opening of
the 10 M repeaters just hag wide open for quite sometime, I saw an
opening into the St Thomas "doorbell" repeater stay open for weeks at
the time easily, and that blew my mind.

please feel free to contact me @ and I will give
you my number and address if you wish, an I will be glad to make this
trade ASAP.
If you are just interested in my radio and do not have the radio I
am looking for, I will be happy to sell my rig to raise the funds so I
may purchase the RCI-2970 DX and a base antenna, I am pressed for
time, as I am disabled, and I will only have a little help to get the
antenna up and the coax run before my helper will be gone for the
Spring / Summer.
Thanks, 73
Walter
