I posted my source in an earlier post in this thread. It's not just
private individuals, but anyone can sell a pre-1994 scanner. My
BC100XLT was purchased in 1989, and the BC200XLT came out about the
same time as the 100. The fact that the unmodified BC200XLT is
capable of receiving cel frequencies should lead you to the conclusion
that they were built prior to 1994. Unless you think Uniden was
breaking the law back then -- kind of a stretch.

The FCC document I quoted is from the file fcc99058.wp. You have to
change the wp to wpd to open it in Word. I don't have time right now
to find it again on the FCC site. However, here is the important
part:

"Section 15.37 Transition provisions for compliance with the rules.

*****

(f) The manufacture or importation of scanning receivers, and
frequency converters designed or marketed for use with scanning
receivers, that do not comply with the provisions of § 15.121(a)(1)
shall cease on or before April 26, 1994. Effective April 26, 1993,
the Commission will not grant equipment authorization for receivers
that do not comply with the provisions of § 15.121(a)(1). This
paragraph does not prohibit the sale or use of authorized receivers
manufactured in the United States, or imported into the United States,
prior to April 26, 1994."

Pay particular attention to the last sentence.

I guess it depends upon where you live. Here in northern Arizona, the
police aren't trunked yet, and my BC100XLT works great for all public
services, ham radio and aircraft frequencies.

Thanks Dick. I guess the bottom is would anyone really want to buy a 10
year old scanner in view of the recent changes. Cell has gone to digital
so that's uncopyable (even if you wanted to) and police on the 800 mhz
freq are trunked, which pre '94 radios aren't equipped to copy anyway.

It is used, sell it, pawn it, run it over with a car, eat it.
It does not matter.
Does the guy have to keep it till he dies??
Who really cares? Don't want it, don't buy it, jezzzzzzzz

lid this A-hole.
MANY of us here are sick and tired of these morons complaining about
everything from A-Z.
Things that don't concern them and things that they think they
are expert on, usually not the case.
Why can't people just leave people alone.
Treat people like they themselves want to be treated.
It is a real shame.

I agree, who cares even if he is asking $1,000.00 for it. Its what he is asking and thinks its worth.
If you don't want it so be it, but there is no need of telling him or her that its not worth it.
Just skip to the next message. That is what's happened to these groups, it got people not wanting to post
there listing. Hell man just ask if that price is firm or can be negotiated.

Treat people like they themselves want to be treated.

perhaps, but if it's on this group it concerns everybody here and they, me
and you can respond to it.

I agree and since none of this concerns you, you are as guilty as those
