What is the value of a remote switch?
What is the use?

It allows having several antennas served by a single transmission line. As an
example, you might have three monoband yagis christmas-treed on a tower a couple
hundred feet from your shack. You might serve this tower with a single run of
presurized hardline, and using the antenna switch at the tower top to select the
appropriate antenna.

I have a heavy-duty, remote TRW (Thompson Ramo Wooldridge, Inc) C14K2CA
antenna switch that is rated at 5,000 watts at 100 mhz (actually have two,
plus a parts unit).

It switches between two antennas. Apply 28V dc and a motor rotates a
connecting arm 180 degrees. Apply the voltage to a different connector pin,
and the arm rotates back. It's a far more rugged configuration than the
traditional relay or stepper motor sort.

Surplus Sales of Nebraska is (unbelievably) asking $450.00 for these (
http://www.surplussales.com/Relays/r...coax_misc.html ). I
want $45.00 plus shipping from Detroit.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,
Jeff

Remote Switches are low voltage AC or DC with 200 ft
# 18 Ga. Two antennas to one feed, one or the other ?
Two fixed yagis one north one south you select.

Some (like the Heath I have) superimpose the switching voltage onto the rf
transmission line (coax), and need no separate control wire.

Two fixed yagis one north one south you select.

That could be one use. Most designs accomodate at least 4 antennas for a single
feed.
