Has anyone used a screwdriver antenna, that wasn't officially rated to do
so, to tune up on 2m ?

It would be too long and thus have a high take off angle,
something you definitely don't want on 2m unless you are
working satellites.

No entirely... IF you are using for repeater work or close in simplex you
may be surprized at the results.
