BC296D power life?

Does anyone else have the BC296D and use it plugged into house current?

Mine, after recharging 12-18 hours runs (now its still plugged into house
current) for about 4 hours and finally dies from low battery. I thought as
long as its plugged into house current you could run indefinitely?
