Police won't say if shot fired

SOUTHBOROUGH -- It has been four days since a report that a police
officer fired his gun during a search for a suspect running away from a
crash, but department officials continue to refuse to say if a shot was
actually fired.

(A TV station reported that a shot had been fired into the ground -
scanner also said a shot was fired)
