Default tunerpower v loss?

hi

i have 150ft of 16ga cable going to my roof sgc tuner

my astron is putting out 13.8v in my shack

given the gauge of the wire and distance etc

what would i expect the voltage to be up at the roof?

tnx

You can solve that yourself.

Get out your amateur radio handbook and check the resistance of #16 AWG per 1000
feet. Multiply that by 0.3.

Get out your SGC specification and find out the current being drawn while it is
tuning.

Use Ohm's law to calculate the voltage drop. Subtract that from 13.8. The answer
is the voltage at the SGC.

I'm not being facetious. I'm teaching.

Depends on how much current you are drawing.

Quoting from my SG-230 manual: "SGC does not recommend
installing the Smartuner more than 100 feet from the
transmitter ..."

300 ft. of stranded #16 has a resistance of about 1.3
ohms at 20 degrees C. My SG-230 draws about one amp.
