I recently "liberated" a toroid that is on every CRT monitor cable from
its molded-on plastic covering: it is a little over 1-inch long by about 0.7-inch outside diameter, and its internal diameter is a fraction too small for RG/8, but RG/58 and RG/59 fit without any difficulty. Might its characteristics be any good for any ham use? -- --Myron A. Those tend to be good up through at least VHF for keeping down RF
noise. I have used them on USB cables, and also on some APRS units, with good effect. They are made so that trying them on an application is easy, and unlikely to do any harm. -- Alan WA4SCA |

In "Experimental Methods in RF design" they are cited as an excellent
source of toroids for oscillator coils with a call out for the number of turns on a specific oscillator... denny / k8do |
