Default Surge Protector ground?

If I run an antenna"s coax through a surge protector's coax protector then
to my rig would that do anything?

I assume it would protect your antenna from
any attempts to transmit through it... they're not
made for wattage, at all. The ones that *are*,
are more expensive.

For lightning protection?? No. You need to establish a common ground
point outside of the house before the coax cable enters the house.
Preferably
having the coaxial arrestors sharing the entry ground rod for the home's
electrical service.

Unfortunately, like many homes I had to put the coax bulkhead with the
PolyPhasers just inside the basement. OTOH things are grounded at the
tower base and there are another set of PolyPhasers at the top of the
tower.

Most of my yard is a ground network consisting of 32 eight foot ground
rods CadWelded to over 600 feet of bare #2 copper.

Preferably
having the coaxial arrestors sharing the entry ground rod for the home's
electrical service.

In most instances the ground for the home electrical service is not
located in a convenient place for a common/central point for the
static, or discharge point. Mine are tied into the ground system, but
the most central point is the tower base. In fact you can't get much
farther from the tower base grounding system than the house electrical
ground.
