In his case, he went through quite a lot of examinations before the
diagnosis was made so I doubt it was self diagnosis. Frankly most of
us are clinically insane one way or another, if not many ways, so I
don't really care if my friends has AS or BS, there's no excuse for

Since Asperger's is is described as a mild form of Autism, it leaves
a lot of doors open for diagnosis. In fact any circumscribed area of
interest: cars, computers, trains, meteorology and astrononi...etc.
could be a symptom of Asperger's http://www.aspergers.com/aspclin.htm
Any nerd characteristics is certainly very suspect. Anyone who dives
into one particular subject. Doing math is certainly a health hazard.

I sometimes wonder if all this really comes from some dissatisfaction
by others who would like to get closer to the sufferer, but doesn't
quite catch their imagination. Hence it's as much other people's
problem as the sufferers. There should be an Asperger's contact
deficiency syndrome...

No prob at all, one of my friend has Asperger. He's pretty smart
though and never had any problems seeing sense or nonsense for that
matter. Also one of the best person I've gotten to know from the net,
although admittedly he claims he does better online than in life. =P

I don't know about your friend, but most "Asperger's Syndrome"
diagnoses are self-diagnoses. The number of proclaimed AS cases has
gone up by a factor of 20 since 1980.

It's the trendy self-diagnosis, much the way "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome"
is.

As in:

"He's a genius, but he plays Worlds of Warcraft all day in his mother's
rec room because he's got Asperger's. So sad."

"I can't work and am on permanent disability because of Chronic
Fatigue."

Add to this the casual self-diagnoses--or diagnoses with the help of a
suitably-chosen doctor--of "Attention Deficit Disorder" (ADD and ADHD)
and "Bipoloar Disorder," and one sees that society is providing many
excuses for failure.

We taxpayers are expected to work harder and longer to pay for the
upkeep of a rapidly-expanding number of AS, CFS, ADHD, and BD
layabouts.

Wow! Tim, you may have figured where SSI went wrong - they're now
accepting self diagnoses of disabilities.

Maybe we can head this thing off by requiring an MD diagnoses!!!

Tim May - you are an idiot!!!!!!!

Where exactly do you get the "most AS diagnosis are self-diagniosis"
from?

Your head?

LOL :-))

That's not the way to do serious research.

All the people I know with AS have an official dx by recognised
clinical psychologists specialising in Autism and Asperger's.
Including myself.

why don't you just say you're jealous and be done with it?

:-))

Default Mark Morgan's continued abuse of Amateur Radio groups

For whatever good it may or may not do, I've already sent a complaint to
Tera News regarding Mr Morgan's abuse of the Amateur Radio newsgroups.

I understand that others have, or are following suit.

186 posts to r.r.a.p on Aug 2 and 183 posts on Aug 3 are excessive by any
stretch of the imagination.

Nor is this unusual, for there has been many a month when KB9RQZ has made
1500 to 1600 posts in the Amateur Radio groups and has gone on record as
stating that his sole purpose was to disrupt the groups with repetitive
posts.
It is because of him that rec.radio.amateur.moderated was formed. He has
subsequently been banned from that newsgroup AND from posting to QRZ.com as
well.

I plan next to document his continued abuse, print it out, and mail it to
Tera News located in Osceola, Indiana on the outside chance that Tera News
does not read the complaints emailed to them.
If he continues and Tera News fails to respond, I next plan to send a
missive to his provider, Hughes Net.
