Has anyone got any simple moderate gain construction ideas for
antennas on the 23cm (1296MHz) band. Gain of a few dB in either vertical or horizontal polarisations are wanted. Brief accurate description of materials, construction sizes in metric dimensions and tuning tips would be most appreciated, along with anticipated gain figures/VSWR/return loss/input Z if known. I'm not after the quad 36EL array designs, just whips, small yagi's or dipole sugestions. Rgds Marcel vk4tmh |

Hi Marcel,
A somewhat unknown antenna, with reasonable gain and easy to construct is the trihedral reflector antenna (corner radar reflector as antenna). It uses a monopole as radiatior. A short acticle (Spanish) with a photo of such an antenna can be found at: w3.iec.csic.es/ursi/articulos_gandia_2005/articulos/RP1/350.pdf A long investigation (English) with a high gain trihedral antenna can be found at: http://yu1aw.ba-karlsruhe.de/shorten3dcra.pdf. I've built one of these simple antennas , except I used copper clad board for the reflector. http://www.dl5neg.de/23cm_ant/23cm_ant.htm I also used a simple corner reflector for years, but I can't find any construction details on the web. 73 Brian GMDIJ -- Brian Howie |
