Default LORAN - C

Anybody have a source of information on LORAN - C antenna design? Googling
hasn't turned up much at all.

Hi George,

Use a CB whip with matching.

As Richard noted, MOST Loran C Antenna Systems, are comprised of a
108" CB Whip and an Active Antenna Preamp specifically designed
for the 100 Khz Frequency and 100 Hz Bandwidth of Loran C Signals.
Usually it doesn't take much except a good narrow Bandpass filter
in front of a couple of Cascode JFets, to get a reasonable signal
level for the Units receiver, and normally, Notch Filtering, is
done at the Main Receiver and Controlled by the microcontroller
that runs the receiver, for interfering Pulse Signals.

Hi George...

I spent 9 years on LORAN C stations (Kure Is, Sylt, Ger and Caribou, Me).
What do you want to know?

I used to work for Decca Navigator @ their US Mfg plant here in MD back in
the 70's, (we were working on a Loran-D rcvr) and I think that I might still
have some of the 100kc xtals used in the Loran-C receivers in the junk box.
If I can still find them - any interest?

Hi George,

Use a CB whip with matching.

Can one use a ferrite antenna?

Hi Wim,

I presume you mean a loop antenna on a ferrite bar. I cannot see why
not.
