Because it takes two USB ports, it obviously contains one USB WLAN stick and additionally one WLAN booster. When using one uSB only it will work as standard stick. I don't know of course, but that is what it looks like. w. |

See, I know of no software to pick whether an internal amp should be used or not used. If the amp were out of the circuit EXCEPT when the other USB cable were plugged in, that could serve to let the user go into distance mode. It would take tiny relays or some PIN diodes to impliment such active switching but it's do-able. (Consider that some FM radios have a LOCAL/DX switch for user control.) Just a guess. One of my beefs with most preamplifiers is that, once installed, they _must_ be used; take off the DC and they turn into attenuators. I'll see what facts I can dig up to support my wifi usb conjecture -- or to demonstrate that I'm a moron. "Sal" |

"Sal" Most likely that the whole unit takes more current than 1 usb port can provide, so like some external DVD drives is needs 2 USB ports. Jeff |

Jeff Yeah, I had that, then dropped it out. Good catch. BTW, I looked and found no tech data revealing the internals. "Sal" (KD6VKW) |
