Default Log antenna mounting questions

I want to vertically mount a VHF/UHF log periodic from the rear of the
antenna to avoid mast interaction. (Greek mounting) This particular log
is a dual boom feedline type and the booms extend to the rear several
inches where they short together. My questions are, can I attach to the
shorted end of the booms with a metal fixture for mounting to the metal
mast? What would be an appropriate spacing from the rear of this antenna
to the mast? The feedlind runs parallel with the ground side of the boom
and I would like to use a ferrite choke balun on the feedline, is it
best placed at the feedpoint at the front of the antenna or out where
the coax heads away from the boom?
TIA,
Mike

Yes.

Farther is likely better, but modeling it would be better still.

I would put it at the feed and if possible run the coax through the
boom. If you can run it throught the boom, then you probably don't
even need the balun.
