Default Radial Wire

I'm looking for a source of radial wire. Possibly I can order over
the internet. Do you have any suggestions?

We have REPLACED lossy soil with lossless insulation.

But now there's no lossy soil in contact with the wire and most of the

diameter and diameter over the insulation the improvement can be

calculated.

Make the wire insulation 6 feet thick and see what happens. You have
something like very low ground loss elevated radials.

Are we talking about buried or elevated radials? I had assumed buried
since elevated radials would have no contact with the soil at all.

As I see it, with buried radials the RF must still penetrate the earth
to get to the radials, so whether there is insulation or not, the earth
loss would still be there. Am I wrong?

Yes Bill, in my opinion your argument is wrong. But we could go on for ever
like this.

I went to one of the local electrical supply places (where the electrical
contractors buy their stuff) and found them quite willing to sell me
high-quality ground rods, wire in bulk, PVC conduit for underground cable
runs, etc.

I bought 1500 ft. of #12 black insulated solid wire for a very reasonable
price. (I'm putting down 32 33ft. radials for a 5BTV, with a ground plate
from DX Engineering.)

Check around ... not all of the large distributors will sell to the public,
but many will - at wholesale prices.
