Default Microphone help

I have an IC-229H 2M radio that I am using with a HM 56a microphone. The
radio keys as soon as I turn it on with the microphone connected. First is
this the right mike to use with this radio. Been a few years since I last
used it. The connector has been resoldered but I think I did this to fix a
broken wire. Wiring diagram with wire colors, pin numbers would be most
helpful.Really think it is the right mike and dont really think it is wired
wrong but both are possibilities, Any other help would also be appreciated.

Jimmie,
If any of the touch tone buttons are sticking it will key the
transmitter when you turn it on. I am assuming that the HM56 and HM56A
are the same.
If you need a manual for your 229 H, send me your mailing address and I
will send you a copy free of charge. The file is too large to email.

Does the "MICE" connection on an Icom radio suppose to go to the shield on
the microphone. That is the way my microphone is wired. I would have thought
the shield is suppose to go to ground. Maybe MICE means mic earth.

Thanks Charles, I got the package Saturday. I did a reset on the microphone
per the instuctions and it works fine now. There is one catch though. I went
to the Shelby NC hamfest this weekend before I got your post and was able to
purchase an entire IC-229 radio cheaper than I could get a replacement
microphone. Now I have two and they are both fully functional.
