Am pretty new at this, and although I always thought I had things hooked up
right, now you have wondering.

I have my "long-wire" antenna going to the High Z input.

This seems to contradict your statement: If your long wire is connected to
your low-z terminal, you're already
in business

Am I right in that it should be going to the High Z input ?

Is it that the output end of the built in Hi Z input's Balun you mentioned
is the exact same as the input to the Low Z coax ?

BTW: -heard anything about a new version of the 545 coming out ?
- what software are you usaing for download and control. ?

Sure is a lot to learn about using the NRD to best advantage, for a beginner
like me.
Am enjoying it, though. JRC turns out a nice product; it's a joy to use.

The low-z terminal takes a coax connector. I suppose you could solder
your long wire to the center pin of a coax plug, but there's no need
to go to the trouble.

Yes, just stick your long wire into the high z terminal; no connector
needed.

That, I don't know, but I'm sure NRD has designed the inputs to more
or less match the impedance of your antenna -- a higher impedance for
long wires, a lower impedance for antennas fed with 50 ohm coax.

Haven't heard about the new version; I'm using the older 525, which
doesn't, to my knowledge, use software.
