Default Solarcon A-99 Antenna Manual

Does anyone know where I can find the instructions or manual for a
Solarcon A-99 antenna? I recently acquired one and would like to know
more.

Thank you

Isn't the antron a very similar antenna--if not the same ant marketed
under another name?

Thanks, I did the search, I didn't find the picture and I didn't pay
for the antenna.

I did see the mixed reviews. They are normal for about any antenna.

I need to know what kinds of radials, mounting etc. I need.

I just have the three sticks that screw into each other.

73 for now.

Same antenna - Solarcon acquired from Antron - from what I've read.
Its a decent 10 meter vertical.
Clamps onto a 1-1/4 pipe with u-bolt clamps and needs no radials - (but
there's a kit)
and tunes to low swr with a couple of rings at the bottom.
I like it. Many hams don't like it because a CB-er used one.

Some folks say to cut the vertical element to make for a better resonance on
ten meters. Don't do that. Leave it as is.

About all the three radials on the bottom due is possible decouple the
feedline a bit. It will work fine with or without.

Adjust the two rings almost all the way out and it should hit fine on ten
meters. The antenna works on 15 also with about a 1.5 to 1. I never tried
it on 12. I doubt it will do much below 15 meters.

I ran an antron I picked up at the dump here on 10 meters (guy beside me
was throwing it away--just couldn't let him do that grin)... just
recently, someone thought so much of it--they stole it off the tower!!!
Used it on cb here too, two major interstates here and lots of
truckers...

I replaced it with a 1/2 wave length of thinwall conduit and stainless
whip for a ~16 foot length--it is fed with a gamma match and works
better than the antron ever did... not as good as the antron on the
chicken band though...

Warmest regards,
John

First of all, Thank you to all who responded.

I looked up the references I could and read about the antenna. I
think I learned what I need to know about it.

I was given the antenna, so I have no cost involved and no loss here.

This is what I understand about the antenna at this time.

It would appear that the antenna manufacturer markets this antenna by
way of a hyped-up techno-babble description that may not even be
accurate, and exaggerated gain. The antenna is primarily a CB design,
but the matching network allows the antenna to be tuned so that it may
have acceptable SWR on 15-10 meters but probably not on 20 meters
without a tuner. With a tuner, the antenna will function on 20-10
meters. Hams with experience with this antenna find it to be lossy
compared to a common dipole, however, it will function as a vertical
without radials at whatever desired elevation.

My plans are to play with it enough to test it and either keep it as
just something I can use without a tuner or to give it away.

More comments are welcome.

Thank you all again.
