With millions of other subscribers world-wide, I am receiving as many as 250
spam messages daily, many generated by viruses in other people's computers. 99 perecent of this attrocious rubbish originates in the United States of America, the land of the free. Can't you get Bush to do something about it? I can do no better than speed-read the subject lines and dump everything unless the subject matter is OBVIOUSLY something of interst to me. SWR or Old Wives is OK Female or male teenagers at my time of life are not. --- .................................................. .......... Blocking helps some, but nothing works for all if it! |

On the other hand, the Commonwealth of Virginia indicted two North Carolina men for violating VAs anti-spam law. One has been arrested and extradited and the other is surrendering. Russ |

Isn't Spam just plain a pain.. our Server here use a company named Postini (do a google search) contact your Local server and tell them you would like this feature to be added.. Postini filters all my incoming mail and stops 98 percent of the spam before it's downloaded to my computer. It also has Virus checking so the 200 or so viruses i've been getting each week have been stopped before it's downloaded on my machines. It would be a worthwhile investment even if I had to pay a little extra for the service. Instead of looking through tons of email to determine what is spam, I just go to the message center and look a the list of blocked headers and tell it to deliver only the ones I want .. or I can read the message there first. Check it out. Also most of the spam I'm receiving here seems to originate from China or the far east. But most of the viruses unfortunately are coming (mostlikely unknown to the actual person,) from other hams in the U.S. who just won't keep their machines virus programs updated. I long ago stopped reporting them cause it did no good and just used up too much of my time.. Just block them now.. Cheers , 73 Dave |

The rest appears to originate in the far east. Which brings up the thought: Guys and Gals, check out your computer to see if it is infected! If you are using a Winbox, using Outlook in one of it's incarnations, Internet Explorer, and haven't updated for a couple years, guess what? ======================== I object to having to pay extra for a service which may improve for a while but soon begins to become unreliable again. There is evidence that control is now being exerted by 'the powers that be'. USA citizens report the stuff comes mainly from the Far East or Brazil. And also complain about Europe. I get none from Europe and none from the UK, Most now comes from America. But a few months back, when mine came mostly from the Far East, over a short period of a few days the Far East stuff fell to a very low level and was of a somwhat different nature. The Far East stuff always had a genuine high quality commercial adverising content. Now the American stuff is 90% pornograhic. But throughout these changes in source and type of content, which cannot be explained by random statistical variations, the total volume has continued to increase. Who are the 'powers that be'. ? They who own and control the World's communications services, data, speech, TV, newspapers, broadcasting, satellite, Internet, will rule the Earth. Where is Big Brother's master computer located? Who's finger's are on the keyboard? |

Problem is many US companies have the spam created here in us and the
sent to the internet from servers located overseas so they are untouchable from us laws etc.. You are correct, many people have unprotected computers with outdated o/s and or no virus software. Example is at my university they processed a weeks worth of email in 24 hours due to that nasty virus that was going around a few months ago. Our mainframe ftp server gets requests from almost every pc on the campus that is infected, campus net can't or won't pull the plug on their ip address. Best thing I can suggest is check out following sites and get protected. http://grc.com lots of info no charge and learn how to protect your pc. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ no charge ad aware v 6.0 finds and then removes many types of spy ware and ad tracking software that is installed when you visit websites (without your knowledge or permission !) 73 99 perecent of this attrocious rubbish originates in the United States of America, the land of the free.
