Program SKYTRIG - SKYWAVE TRIGONOMETRY
With an input of elevation angle, layer height and critical frequency, the program calculates skywave path distance, groundpath distance, spreading (dispersion) loss, field strength from a 100 watt transmitter, and the MUF. The program can be used for guidance on the low MUF's and the geometry of near vertical incidence radio paths over short distance groundpaths. Elevation angle is NOT the angle at which an antenna radiates the strongest signal. It is the angle of the path taken by the radio wave between two places on the Earth's surface and is nothing to do with an antenna. The program notes provide some elementary information on the heights and behaviour of the various ionospheric layers in sunlight and in darkness. Also on factors which affect received field strength such as operating frequency being greater than MUF. Download in a few seconds program SKYTRIG from website below. Filesize = 42 kilo-bytes. Run immediately. Or you can open/run it without downloading. ---- .................................................. .......... Hi Reg,
First, congratulations on your creativity with your programs, and thank you for making them available to the community. But they would come across a little better without any global, borderline pompous (and incorrect) definitional pronouncements... "Reg Edwards" wrote in message ... Program SKYTRIG - SKYWAVE TRIGONOMETRY (snip) Elevation angle is NOT the angle at which an antenna radiates the strongest signal. It is the angle of the path taken by the radio wave between two places on the Earth's surface and is nothing to do with an antenna. The working definition of "elevation angle," of course, depends on the context. Your definition is appropriate in the context of your program, and for propagation ray tracing. But the moonbouncer would generally mean the elevation angle of his array (or the moon), the static array designer might well mean the angle of his maximum lobe, the aircraft spotter would mean the angle of the target, the artilleryman would mean his muzzle angle, and so forth, and so on. 73, Ed |

Hi,
Indeed a worthy offering. G Also feel free to download and use the default QSL-ware (freeware) WinCAP Wizard. WinCAP Wizard is an enhanced, amateur radio directed, HF prop app making use of the VOACAP prediction engine. Many, many charts and reports are provided in the QSL-ware mode. www.taborsoft.com Cheers, Jim -- email sent to: is discarded without being seen. Sorry for any inconvenience. |
