A colleague at work wants to build a 200w hi-fi mono audio amp using a
pair of 811A's. Besides using a modified schematic of the ART-13 modulator (with modern and appropriate iron), anyone know of a design book, etc. for high power audio tube amps? Surely someone out there who's been buying VT-4Cs all these years will have an idea....hi!! Thanks, de K3HVG |

Thanks, de K3HVG I think he is silly and he will find that he doesn't gain very much because of the large grid drive required for those things. He would be better off with power pentodes than 811s. However, if he really wants to do 811s, he should look at the many projects in the Audio Amateur magazine and in the later Audio Express, using the 811. The hard part is the iron, of course. But most of the folks making iron for those applications will also provide construction notes on amps too. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |
