Get the Antique Electronics Supply catalogue, which has a complete price
list of common tubes. Their prices are generally reasonable and about
market value, so their catalogue is a handy reference to carry when you
go to the hamfest. Don't pay more than that.

Those are common, readily available tubes.

Try Antique Electronic Supply, http://www.tubesandmore.com/ .

If you don't like their prices, go to http://www.google.com/ and search for
phrases such as "radio tubes" to compare with other suppliers.

A few years back I sent a big box of tubes to a place maybe in
Colorado that served as a tube bank for people who needed some. The
tubes were free for the asking. Anyone remember this or know if it is
still around?

Dick

Googling the phrase "tube bank" produced: http://www.ve7vic.ca/tubes.htm
