Get out of the Ghetto

I am finding that when the 80 meter window is stuffed beyond capacity
and no one seems to want to move down the band that the 40 meter window
is silent as a tomb.

I have been told that it’s the sunspots and propagation but just wait a
few years.

I say nonsense. There are plenty of sunspots and propagation for the
7290 Net to fill up most of the day so we know at least there is
propagation to that area and the few contacts I have made range from
East to West Coast at night.

I would like to propose a couple of schedules to get folks to use 40
meters as an alternative to 80. This is not a net, just a particular
time to get a QSO going.

The following fits my evening schedule:

07:00 CST …. 01:00 GMT
09:10 CST…. .03:10 GMT

I was told that the Noon Time Forum on 3875 could not work and it has
worked just fine for almost a year now. We have had over 100 checkins
and from 5 to 10 every day since startup.

A net won’t work on 40 because of propagation but we can at least use it
for what it is worth which is to open up to a whole bunch of AMers who
can not be reached on 80 meters.

I will be there at the above times listening and calling CQ for as long
as it takes to get something going or to get bored.

Let’s start a new ghetto.
