Default Ebay seller claims this BC-312 is "ready to go"

I have exchanged a few emails with the guy selling a BC-312 which is
clearly modified on Ebay. While I believe his asking price of $225 will
keep a serious collector away, he will be trouble to deal with for the
unwary. Watch out for this guy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330203945037

I doubt anyone here would bid, since known working ones go for about $150+/-.

I am puzzled by your warning. The pictures are clear and sharp. The
modifications are shown clearly in the extra pictures.

They guy says: "Give a tune-up and some TLC, and it should be ready to go."
.... *SHOULD* is not is!

He says it belonged to his father, and was known to work 40 years ago.

He doesn't say it was unmodified. He doesn't say it works. Actually,
he says: "...I've plugged it in and turned it on with nothing happening."

I don't see anything dishonest about the listing. If it is priced too
high for you, don't bid.

It isn't "complete" and it's been modified. Unless the mods are documented,
I wouldn't go over $100.

I bought my MINT BC-312N in 52. It didn't stay complete/mint for long, and
it was an excellent receiver for the day. It got me through my Novice year
and I collected QSL cards from all over the world on 80 and 40 meters with
my 6L6 xmtr (WN7SAT).
