It was a dog so I sold it at an OARA convention and bought a 75A2 to modify. |

But the chassis is simply not stiff enuf in the right places around the whole front end. I plan to add some stiffeners to see what can be done. One of my SX-100s has been the victim of a serious attempt to cure the mechanical instability and the changes do make it the most stable of the three I have. A previous owner used #12 solid wire to form bracing for the shield that separates sections of the tuning capacitors. Two wires run from the front of main tuning capacitor frame to the shield and to the rear of the capacitor frame. These are soldered at each connecting point. A third wire goes from the shield (attached in the area of the bandspread cap) back to the T-notch filter box. Getting this shield to hold still is a big step in the right direction, as evidenced by the superior stability of thie particular SX-100. |
