Looking for the specs on this cap. From the numbers, I'm
just guessing 42-500 pf 10 KV. I'm not familiar with this company
but it says Union City, NJ.

Saw a listing @ Surplus Sales of Nebraska & think it was 3kv
or 5kv, for lotsa money, but anything "obsolete" has a
sellers' market. I once wanted to replace the coil of a
simple $15 coax t/r relay and got a quote of $495 at one of
those "supply" sites.

"Obsolete" actually often means you have to give it away.

How much of something exists determines price, along with demand.
If something is really common, like toasters, then the only way their
price can rise is if demand is far greater.

Let's not forget that for a lot of real boatanchors, there was a whole
period when they weren't wanted, indeed the name "boatanchor" is a
reflection of that, something big and not necessarily valuable so you
might as well tie a rope on it and use it as an anchor.

So 35 to 40 years ago, SSB had settled in and yet there was a still a
lot of AM gear in people's closets, and they wanted to get rid of it.
But since few were interested in it, it went really cheap. I went through
a whole bunch of stuff in 72/73, because nobody really wanted it and as
a new ham I had no equipment.

That period helped to winnow it out, so decades later when people decided
they shouldn't have gotten rid of that DX-40 when they got an SSB transmitter,
and that PMR-8 receiver when they got the matching SSB receiver, there
were less units available of each model, while the demand had increased.
Then demand is higher than supply, and then sellers can set the price.
