Default FT-101 extension board project

Another ham and I are researching making the extender cards for the FT-101
extender cards. Once designed the information will be turned over to a
local club that we are affiliated with (http://www.skyviewradio.net/) for a
possible Fund Raising project.

So I can get an idea for pre-ordering parts, finding out if this is doable
and if it could actually benefit the club, who would be interested in
purchasing from Skyview, a set of FT-101 extender cards? Send me an email
here or privately.

The profit from the sales of these boards would be plowed back into the
club. Also the profits would be used to used to promote Amateur radio
(i.e., JOTA, Kids Day, community publicity event funding, exam books, Radio,
Electricity, Electronics Merit Badge training and subsequent Scout ham
exams). Or you could choose how your funds may be used (i.e, repeater
upgrade, Boy Scout training or community promotions).

It should take us about a month or so to get this completed and ready to
ship, I hope.

Thanks in advance for your reply to this forum or to my private email.

Don't you mean Noise Blanker? "Extender" is a Motorola trade name.

JB,
I was unaware of the this use of the word Extender.

I mean Service Extender Boards as in the ones needed to lift a board above
and out of a chassis for electrical testing. The boards in the FT-101 are
inserted into chassis mounted card edge connectors similarly to a modern
computer. So to test the board electrical characteristics and test points
one needs to have physical access enough to employ test probes.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Wow my memory must be severely broken, My recollections of the Yaesu FT101
was that it was a tube radio, although I have no recolection below the
chassis.

JB,
It is a hybrid. Three tubes and the rest transistors. One driver tube
(12by7) and two outputs.

There is a ton of information he

A friend in high school had one. I had an SB102 at the time. Maybe it was
a previous model, but my recollection isn't to great and I thought there
were more tubes. Thanks for the link. SB102 was a hybrid too, but only
because the calibrator and VFO had fets. there like 20 tubes to keep things
warm. I later had a TS830s with the 3 tubes. The hybrid radios with the 3
tubes were the very best of both worlds.
