"Boat Anchor" & Classic Equipment
/////////////////////////////////////////// Removing 12BY7 from Kenwood TS-820s Posted: 03 Mar 2017 07:23 AM PST http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...s-820s.557545/ Anybody have any thoughts on the easiest way to get the 12BY7 out of the TS-820s? I want to change it. The tube shield is connected to the board, and I cant get the tube out without presumably desoldering the shield ground wire. But to do that I need to remove the PCB from the unit, right? Looks like I need to remove the Plate control coupling shaft to get it out (and desolder the wire going to the RF unit)? This sound right? I just want to make sure I am not making an easy job more... I didnt know I wanted one until I did. I was going to get a FT-902DM. while glancing around Fox Tango I came across the -980. It all lined up. Saw one on ebay, then found one through a google search. He had it and I bought it. I am a pretty new ham, less than a year. But not a kid and not new to tech stuff (aircraft avionics 30 years), but definitely new to this radio and its operation.
