/////////////////////////////////////////// Hallicrafters SX-110 factory mod (Mark 1A). Does anyone recognize this? Posted: 09 Mar 2017 07:47 AM PST http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...e-this.558338/ This SX-110 just came in from eBay and I was surprised by what looks like a factory mod. The tube is a 6AK6. Looks like a crystal holder on the side and a pot on the top. 4 wires come out of the box. Power (switched) and ground. One goes to the Antenna terminal, and the 4th wire is for the filament. Does anyone know whazzup with this? I cant seem to find that article now. Anyone know who is really good at Boat Anchor repair? Item is Sideband Engineers SB-36 from 1972. Uses FETs, Bi-polar transistors and 6 vacuum tubes. I have the transceiver documentation and is is mostly is good/complete. Thx, Alan /////////////////////////////////////////// R-1051B / URR Variant? Posted: 09 Mar 2017 04:36 AM PST http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...ariant.558357/ I have a R-1051B / URR as seen he The Minuteman missile silo control room seen below is equipped with a radio that appears very similar, but its definitely not the same radio. Any idea what it might be? /////////////////////////////////////////// Starting an R390 Non-A Rebuild Posted: 08 Mar 2017 02:22 PM PST http://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thre...ebuild.492115/ Wondering if perhaps Ive contracted a slight case of Collins Collector Disease. First signs of it occured this summer when I purchased my first Grey Box, a broke 30L-1 on eBay. The guy said it had melted tubes and thats all he knew about it. I took a chance and bought it. Cleaned it out, threw some tubes and parts at it and got it going. At least it works into the dummy load. I havent actually used it on the air yet but it just looks so elegant and cool sitting on the desk.... Essentially, receive is fine but when transmitting CW, the power output is ~ 13W. When tuning up the transmitter, the grid bias will not go below 70mA to the specified 60mA. It will only go 70mA and up when adjusting the bias control. I checked the HV (on the TS-520SEs meter) when transmitting CW and its ~ 800V. I checked cathode resistors R2 and R3 (out of circuit) on the final power amplifier board... Kenwood TS-520SE: High Grid Bias and Low Power Output |
