I'm playing with an old FT 101B Yaesu. After a few repairs, I've only one
problem left to solve.

The transmit frequency is not aligned with the receive frequency. The
difference is roughly 700Hz on all bands and modes.

I've only got a copy of the operating manual and the possiblity of this
problem and a solution are not addressed as far as I can tell.

It seems I remember folks having this problem with 101's back in the
seventies, but it's a very vague memory.

If you know the fix for pulling this together, or if you can point me to it
on the web, I'd appreciate it.

I figure it's in the service manual, but I'd rather not spend $41 if I can
help it.

Service manual wont help.
First thing is to check you voltage regulator board. It must be exactly 5
volts or what you see will continue.

After making sure the voltage is 5v you the need to play 'golden
screwdriver'.

Look at the front panel. You will see a RIT (Clarifier in Yaesu speak). Go
to the bottom panel and remove it.

Look around that control and you will see a very small PC Board type of a
pot. This is the adjustment that will align the rx with the tx.

Now here is the fun part. And if you have another rig handy it is a whole
lot easier. If not get on a dead band with a local buddy.

Have him call you and you tune him in to sound right. But he will tell you
you are off frequency. Have him tune to YOU. Then when he comes back YOU
ADJUST YOUR CLARIFIER.

From now on dont touch the main VFO.

Not on panel where he is off on your clarifier and adjust the control under
the panel. You will have to play back and forth a lot. But the idea is to
match up with the clarifier set to OFF.

Its a pain. But it works.
