Hello! I recently acquired a Knight KG-221a vhf highband FM receiver
and I have a couple of questions/problems with it. 1) It seems to be deaf. I can key my HT (on low power) close to it and hear audio come out. The audio sounds clean, with no AC hum. However, I can't receive anything else. Not even the NOAA broadcasts in the 162.xxx region. I have it hooked to a good antenna. I don't have access to a very good tube tester, but all the tubes light up. Maybe someone could clue me in on what faulty components to look for. 2) Can the bottom end of this receiver be lowered to cover the 2m band? It seems to pick up about 150-175mhz, I would like to use it as a 2m monitor and tune it to our local repeater on 146.940. I don't care too much about freq's above 160mhz so I'd be willing to give up the upper part of the frequency coverage. Any tips, info, schematics, or manuals that anyone may have about this set would also be appreciated. It looks like a neat old radio and I'd like to get it going again. I recently restored a Star Roamer shortwave receiver and I love it. I listen to it almost every night. 73 and thanks in advance, -Bill KC8QDR remove nospam in email address to reply via email. |
