I would check out the electrolytic capacitors. You probably have at
least a few with high ESR, or open.

Might take a year or five, you understand ;-).


The UV3 is sensitve to how you have the frequency and offset set. In
otherwards, if your frequency is 147.500 and you set it for plus
offset, it will squeal to indicate that you are out of band. Well, at
least mine does that for all 3 bands.
