Default Heathkit SA5010 Keyer

Has anyone had the occasion to remove the key pad from the top of the
keyer case. Does not appear to be an easy way as it is stuck on with
some form of contact cement.

Why does it need to be removed???

Well, several of the conductors in the printed ribon cable which
connects the key pad to the main pcb have gone open circuit and
the keyer is useless.
