Ok, so I bit on ebay for a wwII morale radio (or its a look-a-like). Its
built like a rock house. It has a metal face and cabinet, BC, sw from 5 to 15.5 in two bands, two position tone switch, on, off, radio, phono and a 5 1/2 foot whip antenna. The badge on the front says "The Pan American Tropical". Chassis has no numbers or markings (there is a glue mark that looks like it had a model etc pasted to it at one time, kind of a glue outline) The cabinet has a 184 printed in rubber stamp style on the back. The set is 7 tubes (eye tube include) and has sockets for 7 additional tubes as spares (that's what the sockets are labeled "spares") There are three transformers 2 from electronic engineering and 1 from Crosley. The tubes are all different brands and most say 6-23-63 written in pencil.... I am looking for a schematic or any other info. The reason for this purchase is that my grandfather had a radio that he described like this one. It may have been a tropic master, but for what I paid for this one,,,oh well!!! Gramps has passed, but I think it would be neat to tune around the dial like he did back in the day.... Bob in phx..... for more info on my grandfather see http://www.dot.state.mn.us/aero/aved...imek_peter.htm |
