FS: Clegg model FM-27B 2-meter amateur transceiver. It is a 146.0 to 147.99
MHz, narrow-band (5 KHz), 25 watt mobile transceiver. The radio utilizes a 'crystalplexer' frequency synthesizer system to generate the transmit and receive channels. The receiver works fine, but have not checked out the transmitter. Don't have a manual and frankly can't figure out how to get the cabinet off. The cabinet is in good condition, having only a few very scratches. The front panel has some tarnish and scratches. Include is the original microphone, power cord, locking mounting bracket (no key). Price is $40 shipping in lower 48. Thanks, Charlie Hugg, K5MBX |

Sorry, every I see one of these for sale I remember Dicks review of his new purchase. It was cutting edge technology in its day The FM27B generated spurs all over the place basically from about 130MHz up to 180MHz. The fortunate thing, for Clegg, was the spurs were mostly located in ham frequencies, and in a few unused government allocations. This got Heath in big trouble, as they used the Clegg's spurious emissions as the standard with which to measure their new synthesized 2M rig. The only problem was that their rig put out spurs of the same amplitude in the middle of the public service allocations. Hams using the Heath rig were unintentionally keying up police and fire repeaters in towns all over the country....OOPS! Major recall time. Now-a-days, using a Clegg is a very dangerous thing todo. The allocations have changed, and what was once unoccupied, is now in use. You are bound to get busted for interferrence. -Chuck |
