Default RA17 VFO2?

Hi.

Have a sick RA17. Noticed that VFO2 tunes 3.1-2.1 rather than the 2.1-3.1 I
was expecting from the equipment output socket. This seems to be at odds
with the manual.

Anyone know if 3.1-2.1 (i.e. 0-1000kcs on display) is correct? If not what
could cause this inversion.

Bri

That is correct. 3.1MHz = 0 KHz on the display, and 2.1MHz = 1000KHz.

My 2nd VFO tunes from 3.1 at the 0 end to 2.1 at the 1000 end.

Hello Brian and Stan.

Thank you for confirming my measurements, couldn't imagine it working any
other way. I can cross VFO2 off the possible cause list...

Brian.

PS If I feed 2.5mhz into the set via antenna socket from a signal generator
the set receives it at 2.5mhz. If I tune the sig gen to 2.6mhz, the RA17
receives at 2.4 (2.7/2.3; 2.8/2.2; 2.4/2.6) etc. Any suggestions on the
cause appreciated. It receives nothing else.

The first thing I would check is the local oscillator input to the second
mixer. It should be 37.5MHz at several volts. It can be checked on test
point 3 (I assume you have a circuit).
