I am grateful to everyone on this reflector for suggesting Just Radios.com
for capacitors. What terrific service, fast turnaround and fair shipping prices! Excessive shipping and so-called "handling" charges seem to be where the bigger outfits stick it to you these days. Unfortunately Dave doesn't sell resistors. So does anyone know of a good source for fresh, fairly priced resistors? Thanks to all for the help! The modern carbon film resistors don't go nutty like the old carbon composition ones. You can still get carbon comp at Mouser, and pay a premium, if thats what you are asking. -Bill |

Yes, they have a minimum order that is pretty high, but their prices are excellent. Yageo 1/4W metal films in 1% at $8/200. They have 1/2 W carbon films too if that's what you want. They'll sell you five of one value, or five thousand. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

Thanks Al for a terrific recommendation! I also appreciated the other
responses, however, it felt like I might have trampled on some feelings by daring pose my question on this newsgroup. Evidentally Digi-Key should have been as instinctive to me as a cat licking its kittens. Anyway, Radio Daze is perfect, has exactly what I need, fresh stock and, just as important to me, does not seem to play all the games with excessive minimum orders and bogus add on charges. In fact, they state emphatically they charge only actual shipping cost. I prefer to throw my business to companies like that as I have grown tired of the corporate charlatans who feel we as customers have no choice but to let them treat us in any way they can. Thanks again, Al. Smokey "al goss" wrote in message ... Radio Daze, Victor,NY www.radiodaze.com 585-742-2020 Lots of choice restoration parts also. 'al' "Scott Dorsey" wrote in message ... I second the Mouser recommendation. I have never been dissatisfied with
them. They have what you need at a very competitive price and your order arrives very quickly. They also seem to appreciate orders, no matter how large or small... same service. |

Makes me curious how much you have to buy from Mouser before they reach the
"break-even" point? It must cost them a few dollars to produce and ship their catalog. "Bob Miller" wrote in message ... Thanks Chuck for the info on Mouser. Years ago...late 1970s...I bought from
them but was dissatisfied with the transaction for some reasom (which I can no longer remember why). I'll take you up on the recommendation. Yesterday I drove 3 hours to what once was a great little electronics store in a town I used to live. The store had been renovated and was now owned by Marsh Electronics and was a big waste of a trip. I guess they all want us to throw this wonderful vintage gear away and buy the cheap crap coming from China. Anyway, onward to Mouser... Thanks for taking the time to reply. By shipping their catalog to anybody, and everybody that wants one, they are generating a lot of good will. Small buyers sometimes become big buyers (think students), and sometimes not. But happy customers always talk. I've been a happy customer of Mouser's for 20 years. I've turned a lot of my customers into Mouser customers. For me, the other companies are only there to fill in the occasional hole in Mouser's stock. -Chuck |
