A loading coil inserted in an antenna, or a close-wound helical, can
be considered to be a transmission line. It behaves as such. From a coil's physical dimensions, program TRANCOIL calculates the line's distributed Inductance, Capacitance and Resistance including radiation resistance. Also Characteristic Impedance, Phase-shift, Propagation Velocity and Attenuation. Should the coil be used as an antenna, the resonant frequencies are found, also the feedpoint impedance, R+jX, versus test frequency. Input data can be varied via the keyboard to observe how the coil performs versus length, diameter, number of turns and frequency. The program is both educational and practical. Download program TRANCOIL in a few seconds from website below and run immediately. ---- .................................................. ..........
