For small town broadcasting many times it doesn't have to be live. They could start a commnity web page with local news and weather and links to podcasts on different topics. The number of streams depends on the power of your computer. Then computers link to your production server and the port you have put the shoutcaster server on. say 192.168.1.50:8000 where 192.168.1.50 is the IP address on your network of your PC and 8000 is the port for the shoutcaster server. Read the docs at http://www.shoutcast.com/ "truth B told" wrote in message ... Is it possible to stream audio from a computer to a good wifi router and broadcast that way to computers around you? What would be involved and how many people could tune in the stream at a time? |
