Along with the new station name, many of WFRBs on-air staffers have taken on new personas. Program Director Carson Trucker Yoder is now being joined by Tadpole in mornings. Middayer George Lucas is using the on-air name Gator and afternoon host Chris Williams is now Bullfrog. Forever renamed 107.7 WGTY Gettysburg PA as Froggy 107.7 last month and owns stations using that name in every market it operates in. /////////////////////////////////////////// Alpha Makes Multiple Morning Changes In San Antonio Posted: 15 Feb 2016 07:20 AM PST https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...n-san-antonio/ Alpha Media is making morning show changes at two of its San Antonio stations. Blondie Nugget are exiting Rhythmic CHR Energy 94.1 KTFM as Nugget Johnson heads to mornings at Flinn CHR Q107.5 WHBQ-FM Memphis. The duo were paired at KTFM in June 2014 with Johnson joining from KHTT Tulsa and Rachel Blondie Jones from WABD Mobile. No replacements have been named yet. Regional Mexican 95.7 La Ley KLEY is the newest affiliate of Eddie Piolin Sotelos syndicated morning show. Piolin previously aired in the market on Univisions Estereo Latino 92.9 KROM prior to leaving that company in 2013. He will air from 8am-12pm on KLEY. Alpha Media’s La Ley 95.7/KLEY-FM is bringing the party back to San Antonio as it welcomes Radio Hall of Famer and the most widely recognized personality in Hispanic Radio, Piolin, and his nationally syndicated radio show El Show de Piolin to La Ley 95.7 mornings. El Show de Piolin will debut on La Ley 95.7 today from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Noon. Piolin brings back the fun, the music, the guests and the inspiring, entertaining and informative talk that will have San Antonio morning radio listeners welcoming Piolin into their homes and lives every weekday morning. The fresh, high-energy morning show features family-friendly humor with cross-cultural appeal, Regional Mexican music, and interviews with actors, musicians, athletes and other celebrities. Lance Hawkins, Market Manager, Alpha Media San Antonio said: “It’s all about great compelling content.*Piolin is a master of great content and we are pleased to feature his show in San Antonio on La Ley 95.7.” La Ley 95.7 Program Director Alfonso Flores said: “To bring El Show de Piolin to the San Antonio market once again is something our audience will love!*Piolin is one of the most popular radio personalities for Latinos in the United States.*Piolin is fun, entertaining and committed to what matters and is relevant to Hispanics.*Spanish morning radio in San Antonio is kicking it up a notch when Piolin hits the air on La Ley 95.7.” Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo, host of El Show de Piolin said: “I cannot adequately express just how thrilled I am to be on the amazing La Ley 95.7 and back in beautiful San Antonio, Texas! I am so honored to work with the great people at Alpha Media San Antonio and together we are going to bring a daily fiesta like no other to San Antonio morning radio listeners. I truly thank our wonderful friends and listeners in San Antonio, and can’t wait to spend weekday mornings with them beginning Monday. WGBL failed to make a splash with Country, placing twelfth in the market with a mere 1.1 share in the Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings in a three-way battle against Dowdy Broadcastings Kicker 108 WZKX and iHeartMedias K99 WKNN. The new format could help Alpha chip away at market leading Urban AC JZ 94.5 WJZD. INSTANT INSIGHT: We do find one thing a little fishy regarding this flip. Alpha and in particular WGBL Program Director Mark Tik Tak Allen is usually on top of changes on the digital side. The G96.7 Facebook page has a logo that doesnt include the frequency and the G967Radio.com domain linked on that page has yet to be registered by Alpha. Meanwhile the website for The Bull is still up untouched. Very un-Alpha like. Which leads me to believe this may be a stunt before yet another change. /////////////////////////////////////////// FCC Report 2/14: Upcoming New York Translator Sale & Denver Area Move-In Posted: 14 Feb 2016 02:44 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...-area-move-in/ A New York STA with details of an upcoming sale and a Denver area move-in lead this week's FCC filings. /////////////////////////////////////////// WCNS Latrobe Flips To Talk After Translator Purchase Falls Through Posted: 14 Feb 2016 01:21 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...falls-through/ LHTC Media is flipping Talk/Oldies 1480 WCNS Latrobe PA to Conservative Talk on Monday. WCNS will continue airing the regionally syndicated Jim Quinn in mornings. Longtime Pittsburgh radio and television anchor Hank Baughman will host a local Talk Westmoreland from 10am to 12pm. The rest of the lineup will feature syndicated talkers Dennis Prager from 12-3pm, Michael Savage 3-6pm, Mark Levin 6-9pm, Hugh Hewitt 9pm-12am, Armed American Radio 12-1am, and Red Eye Radio 1-6am. The flip of WCNS comes after LHTCs purchase of two AMs and a translator near Youngstown OH fell through due to a defective AM Revitalization Waiver application. LHTC filed to move 94.7 W234CH Girard OH to Latrobe to rebroadcast WCNS, however it was denied as WCNS is a Class B and not eligible to apply for a translator in the waiver period until July 29. The Youngstown Vindicator reports that the purchase of W234CH, Urban AC “Star 94.7” 1330 WGFT Campbell and Silent 1500 WASN Youngstown OH from Skip and Helen Bednarczyk for $325,000 will not proceed following the denial of the move. |
