96.5 Rocks Into Norfolk

Sinclair Communications launched Classic Rock 96.5 Rocks W243DJ
Norfolk/106.1 WUSH-HD2 Poquoson VA on Friday at 12pm. Playing Rock hits
from the 1970s through 2000s, the station lists Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin,
AC/DC, Soundgarden, Green Day, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones,
The Black Keys, Pink Floyd, and Foo Fighters as core artists. The new
format positions the station between Saga Communications duo of Active Rock
FM 99 98.7 WNOR and Classic Rock 106.9 The Fox WAFX. 96.5 Rocks will run
jockless. 96.5 W243DJ/WUSH-HD2 had previously been simulcasting Alternative
96X 96.1 WROX Exmore. With the loss of the 96.5 signal to enhance its
coverage in Norfolk and the new station playing many 90s/2000s staples,
Program Director Nick Chappelle states that WROX will focus more on
breaking new artists and songs.
