Locally based Evans Broadcast Company, run by Jerry Evans, will acquire Country 92.1 The Wolf KWFP Sparks and Classic Rock 100.9 The Bandit KURK Sparks/105.1 K286AG Carson City for $750,000. Lotus Broadcasting will acquire AAA 100.1 The X KTHX Dayton in a deal not yet filed with the FCC. Both deals include LMAs that will take effect on Sunday, May 1. KURK and KWFP will join an Evans cluster that includes Conservative Talk 99.1 FM Talk KKFT Gardnerville-Minden and Classic Country 102.5 Cowboy Country 1300 KCMY/102.5 K273AF Carson City. The new format goes up against Cumulus market leading K105 105.1 WQXK Salem. WQXK held a 10.6 share in the Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings, while WBBG was eighth in the market with a 4.2 share. The station is launching with multiple two-hour commercial-free blocks. Charley Connolly, Program Director/afternoon host of sister 99.5 WGAR Cleveland adds oversight of WBBG to his duties, while airstaffers from other iHeart stations will fill the on-air lineup. The new station is being overseen by Mike Summers, who has previously programmed in the market at 95.5 KJQN and 101.9 KENZ as well as founded Alternative X96 KXRK. Summers recently served as Interim PD at sister Public Talk/Variety 91.9 KPCW Park City. McIntyre previously worked at WRQX from 2005-2010 and has been in the Washington and adjacent Baltimore markets for the past two decades including stops at Hot AC 94.7 Fresh-FM WIAD and All News 99.1 WNEW in the Washington market and CHR B102.7 WXYV, Classic Hits 102.7 WQSR, and News/Talk 1090 WBAL in Baltimore. She has also worked in Boston, Cape Cod, Indianapolis and New York. McIntyre will host 7pm-12am starting May 2 and joins a lineup including Jack Diamond in mornings, Ashley Nickels in middays, and Jason Kidd in afternoons. Cumulus Media announces that it has named longtime Washington, D.C. area on-air personality Kristie McIntyre as On-Air Host for Nights on WRQX MIX 107.3 in Washington D.C. McIntyre’s show will air weeknights from 7PM-Midnight and will debut on Monday, May 2, 2016. This marks a return to WRQX MIX 107.3 for McIntyre, who was on-air personality for the station from 2005-2010, under previous station ownership. She has been a popular on-air personality and reporter in the Washington, D.C. area for over 20 years. McIntyre joins Cumulus Media-Washington, D.C. from Hearst Television, where she was a news anchor and reporter for WBAL-AM. Prior to that, McIntyre was Midday Host for CBS Radio-D.C.’s WIAD/94.7 Fresh FM and Entertainment Reporter for All News 99.1 WNEW. She has also been an on-air personality and Operations Manager for CBS Radio-Baltimore’s WQSR (Mornings) and WXYV/B102.7 (Middays).
