Concurrently, three-time CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year Kix Brooks, who this year celebrates ten years as Host of American Country Countdown on the NASH Network, will exit the overnight show, Kickin’ It With Kix, to focus fully on American Country Countdown, syndicated by Westwood One nationally. Stillwell and Kramer began working together in 1994 with Jaime White at Alice 106 KALC Denver from 1994 through 1998 before moving to Star 98.7 KYSR Los Angeles. The pair were let go in 1999 and later joined Heidi Hamilton at Hot Talk 97.1 KLSX in 2000 and then 790 KABC. Hamilton and Kramer joined KLOS in 2012, while Stillwell had most recently been at iHeartMedia San Francisco. Cumulus Media announces that 95.5 KLOS/Los Angeles has re-signed “The Heidi Frank Show” to a multi-year deal and also added former cast member, Frosty. Frosty Stillwell will reunite with his former cast members and join “The Heidi Frank Show” as a permanent co-host beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The show will be heard weekday mornings on rocker 95.5 KLOS from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. PST. The reunion comes six years after Frosty left the show to do News/Talk in San Francisco. The trio’s long history together includes successful Los Angeles stints at KYSR-FM, KLSX-FM and KABC-AM. In marking this occasion, Frank Kramer commented: “Frostys unique take on the world is something that has been missing from the airwaves for too long. Given the opportunity to bring my old friend and radio partner of 17 years back to the show was unexpected, considering I had only asked for a vibrating recliner. Frosty got me into radio and I always said I would keep him in it. So now we’re even. Legendary station, legendary show, this will be fun.” Heidi Hamilton continued: “Frosty coming back is like hearing that an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time is going to be in town and wants to hang out. Then you start thinking about all the great times and laughs you had together and can’t wait to see them.” Frosty added: “The band is getting back together and this is thrilling for me personally and professionally and it doesnt get any better than doing the trio show on L.A.s legendary KLOS. I have missed working with my friends Frank and Heidi. They are two incredible talents at the top of their game, and the chemistry we have as a team is something truly special.” Keith Cunningham, KLOS Program Director and Cumulus Media Corporate Rock Programmer said: “‘The Heidi Frank Show’ has been doing great, so re-signing them was a no-brainer and we all agreed the chance to add Frosty back into the mix and reassemble one of the best and most successful radio shows Los Angeles has ever had was something we didn’t want to pass up. Their incredible chemistry and unique brand of real and raw entertainment can’t be taught and we’re stoked to have the band back together.” /////////////////////////////////////////// KJJZ Palm Springs Rebrands As Kool 95.9 Posted: 15 Aug 2016 07:30 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...-as-kool-95-9/ Marker Broadcasting Soft AC 95.9 The Oasis KJJZ Indian Wells/Palm Springs has rebranded as Kool 95.9. The station is now positioning itself as True Variety from the 70s, 80s, 90s and Beyond. 95.9 had assumed the call letters of then sister Smooth Jazz 102.3 KJJZ when it flipped to Classic Rock in February 2015 and tried to bring some of the displaced listeners over with it. Sunnylands Broadcastings since launched Smooth AC CV 104.3 KHCV has since filled that void. /////////////////////////////////////////// SBS Makes 95.7 Miami The First Cubatn Station Posted: 15 Aug 2016 05:25 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...baton-station/ Spanish Broadcasting System flipped Spanish Hot AC I-95.7 WRMA North Miami Beach to Cuban Hip-Hop or Cubatón Ritmo 95 this morning. The station will mix some Reggaetón and other forms of Latin Hip-Hop into the format, but focus mainly on the variation coming from Cuba. WRMA has struggled since the flip to I-95.7 in January 2014 with the station no-longer even publishing its ratings publicly. In describing the new format SBS EVP/Programming Jesus Salas told Billboard, “I’ve done extensive research on it, and there are more than 10 main Cuban artists making this kind of music, and I’ve found over 100 songs that I think are really good, and when they get exposed they’re going to become hits. There is more than enough music to create a station.” /////////////////////////////////////////// Gene & Julie Exit Mix 101.5 Raleigh Posted: 15 Aug 2016 05:10 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...101-5-raleigh/ Capitol Broadcasting AC Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM Raleigh has announced the departure of morning hosts Gene Julie Gates following todays program. The station intends to launch a new morning show shortly, but will run with just music over the next couple of days. Along with the Gates, producer Casey Tate exits. The couple joined WRAL-FM in July 2014 following an eight year run at CBS 103.7 KVIL Dallas. This morning Capitol Broadcasting Company’s MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM airs the final broadcast of The Gene and Julie Show. We will announce our new morning show in the coming days. During the interim, MIX listeners will continue to hear the music, WRAL-TV news and weather, and traffic from Patrick McMahon they depend on. We thank Gene and Julie Gates, along with producer Casey Tate, for their contributions to our station and wish them the best in the future. /////////////////////////////////////////// Massive Tupelo Market Shakeup Takes Place Posted: 15 Aug 2016 05:00 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...p-takes-place/ The Tupelo MS market has seen a dramatic shakeup over the past few weeks. The changes started on July 29 with iHeartMedias flip of 99.3 WBVV to Classic Hits Big 99.3. Then Telesouth Communications closed on its acquisitions of Variety Hits Max 95.9 WCNA and AC Power 101.9 WFTA and ceased their LMAs of Flinn Broadcastings 96.3 WXWX and 102.9 WWMR leading to new formats on all four of those frequencies. WCNA has assumed Telesouths SuperTalk Mississippi programming from WWMR, while WFTA has shifted from AC to Classic Hits while retaining the Power 101.9 branding. 96.3 WXWX has dropped its ESPN Radio programming, while it and 102.9 WWMR will soon be operated by Mike Brandts MD Broadcasting via LMA. Both stations are currently running filler music programming. The latest change took place on Friday as iHeartMedia flipped Urban AC Power 92 Jamz WESE Baldwyn to Urban 92.5 The Beat. The station has picked up The Steve Harvey Morning Show in place of Tom Joyner. |
