University of Nevada Launches Classical KNCJ Reno

University of Nevada-Reno launched Classical 89.5 KNCJ Reno on October 13.

The station joins Public News/Talk 88.7 KUNR Reno in the schools holdings.
KNCJ is utilizing Public Radio Internationals Classical 24 programming on
weekdays and a mix of Classical, Jazz and Opera programming on weekends.

The station is debuting a local monthly Jazz concert series Sunday Jazz at
RLT on October 23 featuring local Jazz artists.

The launch concludes an over twenty year attempt to bring the station to
Reno. UNR first applied for the 89.5 allocation in 1995. It was granted a
Construction Permit in October 2007 after being selected from a
mutually-exclusive application pool.

Original Report 11/12/2015: The University of Nevada has set plans for the
launch of 89.5 KNCJ Reno.

The Universitys 88.7 KUNR Reno currently programs a mix of Public News/Talk
and Classical music. The new station will launch in the Spring of 2016
taking all the music programming from KUNR. KNCJ will utilize Public Radio
Internationals Classical 24 programming on weekdays with a mix of Jazz and
Opera programming on weekends.

Village/Flagstaff AZ has completed its move to 97.1.

The move of KBTK was mandated by Univisons upgrade of 105.3 KHOV-FM
Wickenburg AZ to as a Class C1 on 105.1 to improve its coverage of the
Phoenix market. KBTK continues to operate as a C2 with 5kW/444m.

Brazos Valley Communications has flipped Sports ESPN Aggieland 103.9 KJXJ
Franklin/College Station TX to Classic Rock 103.9 The Fox.

The flip returns Rock to the station a year and a half after it dropped its
Active Rock Rock 103.9 identity for Sports. The new format positions KJXJ
directly against iHeartMedias 99.5 The Fox KNFX-FM Bryan.

KJXJ registered a 0.9 share in the Spring 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings. Its
new target KNFX held a 6.4 share.
