/////////////////////////////////////////// Red Rock Sales Lead to Multiple Flips In Northern Minnesota Posted: 01 Jan 2017 01:00 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/1...ern-minnesota/ With the sale closings or LMAs starting across the stations being sold by Red Rock Radio in multiple Minnesota markets, many stations have debuted new formats under their new ownership. Midwest Communications purchase of Country Z96.1 KGPZ Coleraine/Grand Rapids leads to a flip of the station to Classic Country 96.1 Duke-FM. The new format takes KGPZ out of direct competition of new sister 99.9 Radio USA WUSZ Virginia and instead turns it into a flanker. Midwest was forced to divest Classic Rock 102.9 KMFG Nashwauk/Hibbing MN, which has now flipped to Christian AC Refuge Radio as part of new owner Refuge Media Groups network based at 89.5 WJRF Duluth. Classic Rock remained in the Hibbing market as Midwests Classic Hits 106.3 WMFG-FM Hibbing flipped to a simulcast of Classic Rock 95 KQDS 94.9 KQDS-FM Duluth. The KQDS-FM simulcast had been heard in the Hibbing/Grand Rapids area on Red Rocks 105.5 KBAJ Deer River. Under new owner Lamke Broadcasting, KBAJ is now producing a locally originating Classic Rock format branded as J105 The Thunder. KBAJ also adds the syndicated Bob Tom for mornings. Northpine.com also adds that RJ Radios newly acquired Variety Hits 101.5 Jack-FM KFGI Crosby/Brainerd shifted to a locally produced format as Skeeter 101.5 and a playlist spanning from the 1950s through 2000s earlier in December. That followed KQDS-FM simulcaster 95.9 WWWI Pillager flipping to Classic Country/Classic Hits as Cash 95 in November. /////////////////////////////////////////// Variety Hits Dave-FM Replaces Classic Country In Helena & St. George Posted: 01 Jan 2017 11:14 AM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/1...ena-st-george/ Cherry Creek Radio flipped their Classic Country stations in two markets to Variety Hits Dave-FM. The new Variety Hits format takes the place of Helenas Gold Country KHGC Montana City/Helena MT as 98.5 Dave-FM, while replacing Big Classic Country on 106.1 KXFF Colorado City/99.1 K256CD Cedar City/101.9 K270BV St. George UT. Both stations are using the same music logs. /////////////////////////////////////////// West Palm Beach's Bar Gives Way To True Oldies Posted: 01 Jan 2017 08:31 AM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/1...o-true-oldies/ As we first reported in our December 20 Daily Domains, JVC Broadcasting has dropped Active Rock 93.5 The Bar WBGF Belle Glade/West Palm Beach FL as the station flipped to True Oldies 93.5 at the stroke of midnight on New Years Day. Utilizing the syndicated network created by Scott Shannon and currently distributed by United Stations Radio Networks. The West Palm Beach market had been without an Oldies or Classic Hits station, with JVC Soft AC 95.9 The Palm 960 WSVU filling the void by default. The Bubba The Love Sponge fronted Active Rock format did not register in the three most recent Nielsen Audio ratings monthlies. The WBGF signal rimshots the West Palm Beach market from near the southern edge of Lake Okeechobee with a Construction Permit to move a little closer to the market. /////////////////////////////////////////// 2016 Post-Christmas Format Change Rundown/Watchlist Posted: 31 Dec 2016 03:00 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/1...nge-watchlist/ If you're trying to find a gift for a hard-to-please tech geek, or if you just want to treat yourself to something nice, go to the Fybush.com Store for 10 percent off any of our calendars!
