The station, which launched on February 9, also announced its morning and afternoon on-air personalities. Abraham Big Abe Johnson, who previously hosted mornings at Cumulus Urban Power 102.9 KKND in the market joins WWWL for mornings. Terrence Terry Bello Burton joins the station as MD/Afternoon host. Bello most recently hosted weekends at Cumulus Radio 103.9 WNBM New York and has worked in Cleveland, Detroit, and Atlanta as well as hosting the syndicated Soul Lounge from 2001-2012. Tom Jammer Naylor, PD of sister CHR B97 WEZB has added those duties for WWWL. Entercom today announced the launch of Hot 103.7 FM, a new RB station in New Orleans airing the hottest RB hits from the 1990’s, the 2000’s and today. The station will join Entercom New Orleans’s robust roster of stations, including WWL 870 AM/ 105.3 FM, B97 FM, Magic 101.9 FM and Bayou 95.7 FM. Following Entercom’s strategy of delivering best in class locally curated content, Hot 103.7 FM will be the only RB station in New Orleans to host live and local programming in morning drive. “We are focused on delivering the content and music that we know listeners in New Orleans are looking for,” said Chris Claus, vice president and market manager, Entercom New Orleans. “The combination of well-known and live local talent and the RB hits that fans want to hear on 103.7 FM is a magical one that has not been on the dial in New Orleans.” The station debuts with the kickoff of “Big Abe in the Morning”, hosted by Abraham “Big Abe” Johnson. Johnson is an on-air veteran in New Orleans and has previously worked as a producer and assistant program director in the market. In afternoon drive, Hot 103.7 FM will air Terrence “Terry Bello” Burton. Burton is a recognized on-air personality and hosted the nationally syndicated “Soul Lounge”. He will also serve as the station’s assistant program director and music director. Tom “Jammer” Naylor will serve as the program director for Hot 103.7 FM and will continue his role as the program director for B97 FM. Jay Dixon, urban radio veteran, will serve as a consultant to the station. Ridder moves up from the afternoon slot he has held for the past three years to join Scott Dolphin and Shannen Oesterreich following the retirement this week of Karen Dalessandro and exit of Tony Radar Hess. Scott, Karen Radar had hosted mornings at the station together since 1998. Oesterreich joined the show last year after working in promotions and digital for the cluster since 2012. FM106.1, Milwaukees Best Country radio station, announced today the debut of their new morning show, Ridder, Scott and Shannen, effective immediately. Ridder, Scott and Shannen will broadcast weekdays from 5 a.m. 10 a.m. “I am excited to introduce Ridder, Scott, and Shannen to the FM106.1 listener family,” said Kerry Wolfe, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Milwaukee. “This trio has the energy and humor to get your mornings started. Their knowledge and passion for the Milwaukee community and country music make them a perfect team for FM106.1.” Born and raised in Richfield, Shannen grew up listening FM106.1 and discovered a passion for country music. Her radio career began with an internship in the station’s promotion department her freshman year of college. After five years with the company, Shannen is now the newest member of the FM106.1 morning show. Ridder, a three-year vetern of the afternoon drivetime show, will move to mornings joining Shannen and current morning host Scott. At WPEG, MD/afternoon host Brian Mr. Incognito Robinson moves to mornings as part of the Maddhouse Morning Show. He will be supplanted in afternoons by local music promoter John Sport E. Odie Adams. Rounding out the changes, WPEG brings Ya Girl Nikki in for nights from weekends at sister Foxy 99.1 WZFX Fayetteville. At WBAV, all dayparts other than the syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show will see new occupants although the station will bring former afternoon host Derrick Fly Ty Jacobs back to host local morning inserts. Music Director Cortney Hicks will move from afternoons to middays from 10am-3pm. Former WPEG morning co-host/comedian Tone X returns to the market as afternoon host from 3-7pm. The lineup will be rounded out by the addition of Stu Hanna’s Baby Boy Robinson to voicetrack nights. Robinson previously worked in the Charlotte market at 92.7 WCHH and most recently hosted afternoons at iHeartMedias 95.7 The Beat WBTP Tampa. Kenneth DJ Rham Blackmon will join both stations as Production/Imaging Director. Blackman was APD/Production Director at Radio-Ones Charlotte cluster until moving to Atlanta in 2012. Beasley Media Group’s V 101.9/WBAV-FM “Your Favorite Throwbacks and Todays RB!” announces details of recent staff alignments. Cortney Hicks, who has served as afternoon talent, will shift into her new role as the Daytime announcer from 10am – 3pm. She will also continue her duties as V 101.9 Music Director. “The on air finesse that Cortney brought to afternoons, will be the jolt that we need in middays. She has a unique ability to make every listener believe she’s their personal friend,” noted Operations Manager Jeff Anderson. With Cortney Hicks moving to middays, this means that the afternoon position will be filled by a familiar friend, named Tone X. Tone X has performed on a wide array of platforms. He was a mainstay as writer and talent on BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show”, and currently still tours with comedian and Academy Award winning actress Mo’Nique. Tone-X was previously one of the co-host of “No Limit Larry and the Morning Madd House” on WPEG Power 98 FM for 12 years, and is now making his return as the new Afternoon host on WBAV from 3pm – 7pm. WBAV also welcomes back Derrick “Fly Ty” Jacobs. Fly Ty was previously on WBAV as afternoon drive co-host, and has also worked within the Charlotte market, but now “The People’s Host” is back with Beasley. Listeners may hear Fly Ty during programming, Monday – Friday 6am – 10am. “It feels good to welcome back someone like Fly Ty, who has made his mark in the community,” added Anderson. “We’ve missed him during his brief absence from radio!” Kenneth “DJ Rham” Blackmon makes his way back to Charlotte after being away since 2012 when he was Assistant PD / Production Director for Radio One WQNC/WPZS. He recently worked with CBS in Atlanta and also worked independently with his personal production company. DJ Rham is now back as the Production/Imaging Director for WBAV/WPEG. “Rham has always had an ear and the originality for production, and has managed to be a creative genius in story-telling, through imaging and production,” commented Anderson. After taking an extended break from radio, Stu “Hanna’s Baby Boy” Robinson has made his return to the Carolinas. Stu was most recently afternoon drive talent / Music Director for WBTP Tampa. Stu also previously worked in Charlotte for Radio One’s WCHH when it was Hot 92.7. Stiglets is currently the General Manager of Coast Radio Group in Biloxi owner by her parents John Morgan Dowdy and Alice Dowdy along with other stations across the southeast. My Home Team Media retains Classic Rock LA 106.3 KXOR-FM Thibodeaux in the Houma market. Cactus Communications sells 1590 KKAY White Castle/Baton Rouge LA to Liberty In Christ Jesus Ministry for $182,000. The buyer began operating KKAY via Time Brokerage Agreement in January 2014 and the sale filing coincides with the final monthly payment going towards the purchase price. The foundation currently owns shared-time 88.3 KNAI Phoenix, which operates from 5:00am to 7:30pm daily as part of its Regional Mexican La Campesina network. The acquisition of KMVP follows a consent decree with the FCC last year to swap its Visalia CA market station for a commercial frequency for airing commercials on a non-commercial license. This sale now gives the group a commercial allocation in Phoenix. Is a sale of its part of 88.3 or swap for a translator the next play to make the group legal in Phoenix? 860 KMVP had been airing a brokered Gospel format in recent years. A new LMA with the buyer will start in April. This is to announce that a contract has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC for the transfer of radio station KMVP-AM, Phoenix, Arizona from Bonneville International Corporation to Farmworker Educational Radio Network, Inc. The Seller, Bonneville International Corporation is a Utah corporation. Bonneville also owns radio stations in Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Seattle, along with TV and newspaper in Salt Lake City. The Buyer, Farmworker Educational Radio Network, Inc. is a California corporation that owns and operates stations in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington.
