WKHX Howling About A Major Announcement Thursday

Weve reported for a few months now about potential domains for a rebrand at
Cumulus Country Kicks 101.5 WKHX-FM Marietta/Atlanta.

The station is now promoting on-air a big announcement for Thursday,
November 14 at 3:00pm. The promos include a wolf howling in the background
teasing the rebrand as 101.5 The Wolf. Considering new WKHX Program
Director Mike Moore previously spent sixteen years at 99.5 The Wolf KWJJ
Portland, he may have some expertise with the brand name. And where does
the former major market personality known to be spotted lately in the
Cumulus Atlanta facilities fit in?

Meanwhile, Country Aircheck reports today that WKHX APD/afternoon host
Scott Gaines will be departing the station next month. Gaines joined WKHX
in August 2017 from sister WGKX Memphis and has also worked at WSM-FM
Nashville and 106.7 The Fox WDTW Detroit and 96.7 The Twister KTYS Dallas.

Round Of Cuts At Mid-West Family Broadcasting Madison

A round of downsizing has taken place at Mid-West Family Broadcastings
Madison WI cluster.

Super Dave Ogden exits after seven years with Country Q106 WWQM. Ogden
served as Promotions Director and midday host and just added Assistant
Program Director duties this past June.

Jason Ryan is out as night host at WWQM and cluster afternoon traffic
reporter. Prior to joining WWQM in March 2016, Ryan briefly co-hosted
mornings at Entercom Hot AC Mix 105.1 WMHX and worked in Janesville and
worked at multiple stations in the Janesville market.

The exits of Ogden and Ryan follow the departure of afternoon host Cora
Quinn last month after a six month run in that daypart. Morning hosts
Jackson Jones and Steph Peters are currently the only on-air staffers at
WWQM.

Over at AC Magic 98 98.1 WMGN, Julie Jacobs is out as 12-3pm host. Jacobs
joined WMGN in November 2017 after previously working at Country 99.9 WJVL
Janesville and 97.7 WGLR Lancaster WI.

Scott Broadcasting has launched Classic Hits 100.9 Alex-FM W265BO Meridian
MS/WSLY-HD4 York AL.

The branding duplicates the format heard on the Scotts 100.9 WALX
Selma/Montgomery AL. Scott is leasing the HD subchannels of WSLY from
Grantell Broadcasting to feed W265BO and Classic Hip-Hop 100.1 Da Bomb
W261CS.

Marble City Media has launched AC AU 100 on 100.3 WAUE Waverly/Auburn AL.

WAUE had been simulcasting Country Kix 100.3 1290 WYEA/100.3 W262DI
Sylacauga until completing its upgrade and move into Auburn this week.

Major Cuts At Entercom Miami

At least four on-air staffers have exited Entercom Miami as the company
continues to make cuts across its radio operations.

Market stalwart Kimba is out as APD/afternoon host at AC 101.5 Lite-FM
WLYF. Kimba spent two terms with WLYF hosting nights from 2003-2009 and
then returned in her current role in 2013. Before joining WLYF the first
time she spent 16 years at the Clear Channel cluster of Rock Zeta 94.9
WZTA, Classic Rock Big 106 WBGG-FM and Talk 940 WINZ. In between WLYF runs,
she hosted afternoons at Cox Hot AC 97.3 The Coast WFLC.

Jade Alexander departs middays at Classic Hits 102.7 The Beach WMXJ.
Alexander joined WMXJ in January 2016 after a long run in both Miami radio
and TV. She co-hosted mornings at CHR Y100 WHYI from 1990-2001 and hosted
middays at Mix 98.3 WRTO-FM during its time as a bilingual CHR from
2003-2005. She also served as an entertainment reporter and anchor at CBS
WFOR/WBFS-TV from 1999-2008.

Todd Durkin is out of mornings at 99.9 Kiss Country WKIS-FM. Durkin moved
from nights to mornings earlier this year swapping shifts with APD/MD Tim
‘TC’ Conlon. Durkin also has a long acting resume. Co-host June Knight
remains in mornings.

APD/morning co-host Brian The Beast London exits Sports 790 The Ticket WAXY
after seven years with the station. He had just moved to mornings in August
as part of the revamp of it and WQAM. London also spent a decade at
now-sister 560 WQAM and the Miami Hurricanes Radio Network and wrote for a
few college sports publications. Co-hosts Brendan Tobin and LeRoy Hoard
remain in mornings.
