As of noon today, WDAF "61 Country," has become "Country 106.5" as the
format has moved over to the FM side, as announced last week. 610 and
106.5 currently are being simulcasted, although plans are to change formats
on the AM side, presumably to sports talk.

They are also genoursly referring to themselves as "WDAF-FM," so those
calls will eventually be assigned to 106.5 (the top of hour ID currently
referes to both stations "WDAF Kansas City and KCIY FM Liberty"). I have
no clue as to whether the AM will retain the WDAF calls or new calls would
be sought. I'll bet 50/50, as on one hand, the WDAF calls are tied to the
format and there should be something new for the new format. But on the
other hand, the calls are also tied to the frequency, and if they are going
to sports talk, using the WDAF calls could be beneficial, especally since
the main competiton flouts its historic calls -- WHB.
